Once again, I sped through Komazawa-Dori as the day changed into night.

    ‘Now, time for you to choose a path where you two will be able to live together.’

    The shinigami said that to me.

    Right. I will survive together with Suzuno.

    But, there weren’t a lot of things I could change.

    Like, if I were to act differently in front of those guys, would it change anything?

    I knew I would be beaten up by them, but would that make me magically be able to fight better?

    Even if I was able to, would it ultimately change my fate?

    Say that I was able to stop those guys, what about the truck then?

    As I tried to rack my brain to come up with a solution, my phone vibrated.

    It was Motoyama, he sent me that stupid message. I should ignore it, it wasn’t like I needed to see the black cat again anyway, I already knew where my destination was.

    At that moment, I remembered what Arasaka-sensei had told me.

    ‘If you’re going to face something difficult in your life, doing it with two people is always better than one.’

    I grabbed my phone. As I pedaled my bike, I made a call.

    {Hello, Yuuma? Did you read my–}

    “Motoyama! Help me!”

    {Huh? What’s wrong?}

    “Komazawa-Dori! Near Komazawa Park! Where our middle school was! Please stop the traffic there!”

    {What?! What are you on about? I don’t get you! Besides, how the hell am I supposed to do that?}

    “Please, I beg you! My life depends on it!”

    Your life?!’ Motoyama’s voice trailed off.

    Komazawa Park’s greenery came to my view. I threw my phone away as I’ve already arrived at my destination.

    I knew that there was no way Motoyama could stop the traffic by himself. Kento probably wouldn’t believe me and I doubted that he’d go out of his way to call the police for me.

    But…

    It wasn’t like I could do everything by myself. I knew it was pathetic of me to say that, but that was the truth…If I wanted to survive together with Suzuno, I couldn’t do this by myself…

    When I reached the parking lot, I threw my bike away.

    Time for my second run.

    Since I knew what was going to happen, this time I will do something to change the outcome. I won’t lose. Yamaoka Yuuma won’t lose!
